The wheat market is weak and inactive owing to the continuance of -heavy shipments from Ameiica and the River Plate. Buyers are disinclined to operate, with the prospect of still lower prices. There is little inquiry for cargoes. Old Australian wheat afloat is offering at from 38s to 39e £ mA new (loading) at 38s.
Steamer parcels afloat are quoted at 37e. Australian spot lias slumped to 40s. New Zealand is nominally quoted at from 380 ti> 40s for long-berried and from 37s to 38s for short-berried. The American visible supply is 63,890,000 quarters. 1 The flour market is flat owing to excessive supplies, and the price has declined by 6d to Is. Australian is retailing at fiom 28s 6d to 30s. The butter market is firm. Colonial is unchanged, but Danish "has risen 10 kroner, making the London quotation about 1535. The copra market is weak, but fair business in South Sea copra (in bags) is passing at £17. For bulk £16 15s is offered. The Bradford wool maiket is quiet, with few actual tvantactions. Common sixties, 25d ; super, 26d. February 16 Hemp Firm, but flat. February and March shipment, £27 10s. Rabbits Firm, but unchanged. I Frozen Meat.— Sheep: Unchanged. Lambs: i Xew Canterbury, all classes, 6d ; North Island, s£d. Beef: Unchanged. Hivex Plate sheep: Heavy, 3d; light, unchanged. Beerf: Unchanged. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 4.345,000 quarters, and for the Continent quarters. The Atlantic shipments were 224,000 and the Pacific 60,000 quarters.
