OAMARU, February 11. Mr Hutchison. S.M., presided at the Oamaru 6itring of the Majr.istrate'6 Court yesterday morning for the first time, when Mr A. J. Gra\e, the senior member of the Bar present, oftered a few words of welcome, expressing the hope that the cordial rflations which had lonir oxisted between the Bench and the Bar would continue. In carrying out his duties Mr Hutchison would have the co-operation and consideration of the Bar. Any slierht differences in the matter of local practice would be quickly reconciled. In repljing. Mr Hutchison reciprocated the desire that harmony would be the prevailing note in the proceedings of (he court. The differences in local practice were but details. He had presided over courts for over 15 years, and hie relations with the profession had ever been pleasant.

Mr W. G. K. Kenrick. S.M., was accorded a hearty welcome on takintr. his seat at Lawrence on Monday. Mr D. Finlayson, senior member of the Bar. expressed the belief that fripndlv le'ations would be maintained, and that Bench and Bar would be materially helpful. In return 'ne thanks Mr Kenrick said nothing: would be wanting on his part lo bring about this pleasant conjition of things.
