WOODSIUE Febiuary 17.—The holiday season is at an

end, and Woodside has had its fair share of visitors and picnickers, moie so even than last year. Very frequently the glen must have been severely taxed to hold the numbers who went tiieie to enjoy themselves. This season the native flowers have been .very abundant, and the bush has been exceedingly attractive. The Season.—The long spell of very dry weather is still continuing The month of January has peibaps been a record one for heat and drought. Baiely an inch and ahalf of rain fell, and only the slightest shower on each occasion. Day after day a b'azing sun shone with a sweltering heat, reaching on one occasion lOlJdeg noimal temperature. The consequence is everything is very dry, and water is getting scarce. It would t«ke two or three days of rain to make any impression on the ground. Of course the grass is suffering severely, and it will not be long till^the cattle will be short of feed ia the paddocks. The turnips are suffering too. The blight is taking « firm hold, and unless rain comes soon that crop will be a general failure. The grain harvest, however, is a good one. Favoured with the excellent weather, it came on very early, and there being no broken time, soon became general. Already the mill has done good work, and most of the stuff is being threshed out of the stook. There will be no shortage of straw for winter feed, and as the spring was a very favourable on«, the bay crop was good, and those who had any to cut got it :n in excellent condition.
