HIGH SCHOOLS BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the High Schools Board of Governors was held on the 13th; piesent — The Hon. J. R. Sinclair, M.L.C. (chairman), the Hon. T. Fergus, Dr Church. Messrs J. Loudon (Mayor), T. K. Sidey. M.P.. T. Mackenzie, M.P., and J. M. Gallawav.
The Hon. Mr Sinclair was elected chairman and Mr T Mackenzie hon. treasuicr for the current year.
In regard to the heating of the school, it was rwolved that "Messrs Ma«on and Wales be instructed to have the work done.
A letter was read from the Inspectorgeneral of Schools suggesting a conference beteen the hoard and himself with a view to affording the Minister of Education such information a« would enable him to deal with the board's application for a new school for "iris. The writer stated that the Minister agreed wilh the opinion expressed that the school should be rebuilt. — The communication was received, and 't was decided to inform the Inspector-general that any date after tho 4th of March would suit the boaid for the proposed conference.
An api^lication was received from Messrs J. C. and J. Bcgg, lessees of Runs 162 and 161. Mokoreta. for permission to transfer to Mr J. C. Begg. — Approved.
An application was received from Messrs Hall, Stout, and Lillicrap for consent to assignment of a lease of Run 161 a from D. M. M'Donald to W. Hunter and another. — Agreed to.
An application was received from Messrs Alex, and W. Bengie. lessees of sections 11. 12. and 15, block XXII, Mokoreta. township, and section 5. block V, Mokoreta. district, for permission to transfer to Joseph E. Rogers. — Approved. An application was received from Mr R. H. W. Bligh, lecturer for the White Cross League, to address the pupils of the Boys' High School.— The board decided that it could not see its way to ask Mr Blieh to address the school. A letter was received from the Rector ot the Boys' School reporting on the enrolment for the current term and stating^ the results of the various public examinations. Mr T. "K. Sidey ga-re notice of mcrtvoa for next meeting as follows: — "That visiting sub->comniittee6 be appointed whose duty it shall bo to visit the school at least once in each term."
