RESCUER LOSES HIS LIFE. (From Oub Own Correspondent.) BLUFF, February 16. A \ery sad case of death by drowninjr occurred here this afternoon. Some lads were bathing inside th© wharf behind the freezing works, and one of them got beyond his depth and sank in 10ft of water. On the alarm being given a young: man named Jas. Spencer swam out to the rescue. He seemed to be caught by the drowning lad, and the further a arm that both were drowning was raised. Help being at hand, the young lad was rescued in an exhausted state, but was eventually brought round. When brought ashore Spencer's oaeo was seen to be hopeless.
