A ROUGH VOYAGE.
WELLINGTON, February 6. During the voyage of the Moeraki fiom Sydney to Wellington extremely rough weather was experienced. On Monday hea\y seas broke on board the vessel, carrying away part of her deck cargo. A pasgenger namod. Grant was thrown on the deck, breaking his arm and sustaining injuries to his head. The passengers had a very unpleasant time. It was raining heavily when the vessel left Sydney. On Sunday, outride the heads, the ship steamed into a strong gale and a heavy sea. All day Sunday the wind blew with hurricane force, and a quantity of water was shipped. Some deck fittings and steam pipes were carried away and deck cargo damaged. On Monday it was still blowing hard, and further seas broke upon the sieamer. At 9 a.m. the Marama was parsed, and she was flying before the gale. The weather began to moderate on Tuesday, and at noon on that 'day it was raining and a confused sea was running. The conditions continued to impro\e, and by yesterday evening the sea had calmed down considerably. A steerage passenger named Giant was thrown to the deck, and besides pu-staining severe injuries to his head, he had a forearm broken, and lost blood to an extent, that greatly weakened him. I{ was afterwards disco\ered that two arteries had been cut, and as a result Mr Grant was in a state of semi-collapse. This morning Mr Grant, who is still very weak, was removed in an ambulance to the Wellington Hospital.
