THIRD GRADE.
The match between the Hieh School and Carisbrook E ended in a draw. School, batting first, made 86. Mitchell (21), Reid (24), and Nugent (I_2) batting well. M'Hutcheon (seven for 55) and Logan (two for 34) bowled best for Carisbriok. Carisbrook replied with 86, Logan (16). Lomas (11), Warren, and Baldrv (10 each) reaching- double figures. A. W. Alloo (eight for 32) and A. P. Alloo (two for 30) trundled be-st for the School. Albion defeated Port Chalmers by 199 runs on the North Ground on Saturday. Albion made 246. A. E. Binnie (32), M'Donald (33). Hart (29). Buckle (27), Worrall (22), Robinson (14), Shepherd (11), Edie (10) being the highest scorers. Port Chalmers scored 47 (Sykes 20). Hart ("oven for 10) and Worrall (three for 27) were Albion's most successful bowlers,, whilst Wilson, Sykes, and Smaill secured the v ickets for Port. Star met St. Martin's in the return match on the Asylum Ground. M'Xeill and Higgins opened for Star, and by careful cricket took the score to 65, when M'Neill was stumped off Drake for 23. Aspinall (18) helped Higgins to take the score to 120 before he was bowled. Banks following, another good stand was made, the score being taken to 203, when Banks ...was bowled for a good innings of 31, Higgins being 115 not out. Clark wa* bowled without any increase to the score. Higgins and Dow then played out time — Dow" (35 not out), Higgins (158 not out). Higains played very good cricket for his runs, only giving a. couple of chances when his score was 130. Star's score now stands at 285 for four wickets. The umpires (Messrs Austin and Fletcher) gave every satisfaction. Grange defeated Mornington by 38 runs. Morninsrton, batting first, made 46 (Dnrston (15) alone reaching double figures. Grange replied with 84. Jones (55) batted well, and was the only player to reach double ■figures. Anderson and . Durston bowled best for Mornington. while Weir (&ix wickets for 22. including the hat trick) did likewise for Grange. Star No. 2 met Dunedin on the Asylum Ground, the game ending in a draw. Star made 65. Johnstone (17) and Pledger (12 not out) reached double figures. Torranoe (six wickets) and Tilev (three) divided the bowling for Dunedin. Dunedin also totalled 65. Symonds (15), M'Donald (15). and Hardie (12) were the best. For Star. Pledger secured -he fine bowling average of nine for 24. St. Kilda defeated St. Martin's No. 2 by five wickets and 20 runs' to 47 runs. For the winners, D. Murray (10), Rice (11) Botting (16), W. Harvey (14 not o\it), and C. Beck (6 not out) batted well, and G. Edwards also Bowled well : whilst M'Donald (22) and M'Lennan (17) batted well for the losers. FOURTH GRADE. St. Kilda No. 1 beat Albion by 110 runs to 55 runs. 'For the winners, Waghorn (30), Forrester (27), Bell (20), and Aslin (11) batted well, whilst the Binney brothers batted well for the losers. Star defeated Mornington (w ho so far this season had not had a loss) by 51 runs. Star made 104. Thompson (31), Aitchison (22), and Morrison (10) were the best. Mornington replied with 53. of which Scott made 13 and Jennings 13. Aitchison (five for 19) and Thompson (three for 9) bowled ■well for Star. St. Kilda No. 2- claim a win against St. Martin's by default. AUCKLAND. The sixth round of the Senior Grade matches was concluded on Saturday. Ed"n beat North Shore by 163 runs on the fii^t innings, the latter responding with 99 1o Eden's 262. Eden went in again, and knocked up 187 for six wickets (Hob^on 96 not out). Stemson got four of the losers' wickets for 25. Grafton 6cored a threepoint win over Ponsonby, the scores being - Ponsonby, first innings' 111, second innings 111; Grafton, 172 and 50 for two wjckeK ; City scored a three-point win o^er Parnell. WELLINGTON. The semi-final matches for the cricket chamoionship were continued on fa^t wickets. Midland's first innings against Wellintgon yielded 353 runs (Patrick 104 not out, Wynyard 65. Upham 53). On Hie previous Saturday Wellington were disposed of in their first inning 3 for 154. In the match between Petone and Old Boj -. the latter had made 273. Petone's tirst effort closed for 138, Isherwood contributing 46. In their second innings Old Bo\s made 214. Of these, 75 were contributed by Beechey, 30 by Lomax, and 29 b> Tucker. The Senior match between the Gas Company and Newtowu, which does not count in the championship, neither team having qualified to compete in the flfl»l ajftiches, ended, in an easy win for the

Another round of the First Grade cricket matches was commenced in splendid' weather. Results: Sydcnham, seven wickets for 403 (W. Patrick 71, A. Jones 158, J. Bruges 68), v. East Christchurch. Linwood 294 (H. A. Bishop 56, H. Ellis 52, S. A. Orchard 58, A. E. Ridley 40)' v. West Uhristehurch 25 .for two wickets. St. Albans 278 v. Riccarton 47 for no wickets. A MATCH ABANDONED. The match between Wellington and Auckland for the Plunket Shield has been abandoned for the present season, it having 1 been found impossible to send away a sufficiently representative team.
