FIELDING SHOW
FEILDING, February 4.
The Feilding &how was opened to-day with fine weather and a good attendance. The exhibits of live stock were not as good as last vcar'e owing to the bad season. The maiden hunters' competition was won by Strawbridge's Carpenter, with Samson's Mona second. Miss "Whittaker's pony mare by Strawbridge's Carpenter, with Sanson's Nancy took first prize for mare most suitable for breeding hacks. James Bull took the prize for the best pair of harness horses, and F. H. Usmar, with Kalula, was first for mare most suitable for brooding carriage horses. In draughts the first prize was secured by Hoult and Sons, and by Bennet Bros, and G. Perry for <la.ia? catilo TV. T. Harre \ras first for dairy cow, any breed. The prizes for heifers were taken by S. R. Lancaster, S. Standen, and C. C. Bensemann. In pedigree cattle E. Short was first for Hereford cow and heifer, and C. Wheeler was first for his bull. The Ayrshire prizes were taken by S. R. Lancaster, S. Standen, E. C. Beneemann, and Tercv S. R. Lancaster; and C. Dermer was first for heifer and cow. Mrs M. A. Kirton -uas first for bull. In the fat cattle class I>. Short and W. Mills divided the first prize. In fat sheep W. Reid. K. W. Dalrymplc, F. S. M'Rae. and E. Short were the most successful exhibitors. In fat lambs A. F. Fitzherbert, J. Poweu, F. S. M'Rao. C. Millen, A. Reid, and J. Knight divided the prizes. Mr Knight tcok the gold medal for the two fat lambs most suitable for freezing. In the farnoers clae=es the prizes for Romnevs were divided between W. M. Pearce, J. Knight, W. E. Baker, Coberstein. and W. G. Aitken. For Lincolns J. TV Brady took the, most prizes. In purebred sheep M. Voss, W. G. Pearce, J. Knight, and' F. Kensinsrton took firsts For Romnevs, and W. Gadsbv four first for Lincolns. P. Neil-sens and Slack Bros, took first for Border Leicesters, S. R. Lancaster five firsts for English Leioestevs. Lancaster. Short and Knight were first for Southdowns'. For pigs H. Webster was first for the oiw most suitable for factory bacon. Slack Bros., T. White, and E. C. Bensemann divided the first for purebreds. In butter for export the Rangitikei Dairy Company (93.5 points were first, the Awahuri Dairy Company (93) second, and the Cheltenham Dairy Company (92.5) third.
February 5. There were perfect weather and large crowds for the second day of the Feilding show. The prize for the dairy cow giving the lartrest quantity of butter- fat was won by Stretton's Brindle with 241b of milk to 1 21b of butter-fat. The weight-carrying cob competition was won by Verry s Webster and the lady' 6 hack competition by Wilde's The Viceroy. The competitions resulted as follow -. —Best lady driver. Miss Ineles; pony jumping, Hunt's Dandy, ladies' hunter competition, Westland'e Fifi, ridden by Miss Brierersi open hunters' competition, Cameron's Mac ; leading and jumpins- competition, Serseant Younger's team, Feildin" Mounted Rifles.

It is estimated that there wae an attendance of 8000 at the Feildinu 6how yesterday. The eate takings were £350, being £80 more than last year.
