PORTOBELLO FOAD BOARD.

The mcnthly meeting of the Portobeilo Road Boaid was held on the 30th alt. for the first tJjpe since it was decid.ed to change the day of meeting from the last Saturday to thft last Thursday in each month, and was attended by Messrs Dickson (chairman), Fulton, Bscon, Seaton, HeLyer. Macandrew, and Wright It YfSLi resolved that Wednesday be the kalf-boliday for -.he district, to take effect 5n the Ist March next.

Me Ness, Vauxhall, wrote complaining ibout wandering rattle which had broken m and damaged, his garden. He requested the boftrd t> put a stop to cattle running at f»rge in the township. — The ranger to beOstiucted to use his utmost endeavo\ir to have all cattle roaming at large oa the roa«"3 impounded-.

The- Secretary Dunedin Hospital Board •wrote asking if ihe Road Board was wi ling to guarantee all cost if a patient was admitted to the hospital fiom the district. — Heaolved that the board be informed that the Road Board will guarantee nothing, but will assist ia giving every facility to the board in the msuter.

Ihe Sub-inspector of Police wrote =tating that Coi.stable Brennan had met two motor para on the Beach road and the Anderson's JBay bridge, contrary to the board's by-law, and that he took the nanie of the owner and mimber of each car. He wrote asking the board to instruct its solicitor to uphold the by-law.— Request granted.

Tha c erk was instructed to wiite a lesident of Otakou stating that if an accident occurred on Seaion road he will be held responsible until he leaves the road in pioper order.

Ihe board considered the surfacemen's petition for an advance oi pay. — It was re«olv?d that the pay be 7s pel day, the men to understand that no work is to be done on wet days unless ordered by the boaid.
