Notes from Cromwell.
(From Ous Own Correspondent.) CROMWELL, February 4. Dredging is in full swing again. Most of the dredge^ire now working. The Rise and Shine No. 2 dredge started last night, and, as it is on good wash, the | prospects for thi<i year are veTy bright. The 10s returned in dividends last season should be even exceeded this year. The Clutha River dredge closed down temporarily last week, as the gold cut out, going into the bank, and as good gold was nxade on the cut outside, it was very unexpected. Some of the directors are coming up this week, and it is lumoured they may take up another claim above the Lowburn This would be a rather good idea, as it would be almost ceitain to be successful, for everyone is now convinced that the Clutha is payable oround with a good machine. The Electric No. 2 dredge is expected to strike something good shortly. If it does not there is now not a very large extent of maiden ground The No 1 dredge should be on some maiden ground just about where it is.
