UNITED STATES NAVY
NEW YORK, February 5. The United States is building a submarine of ths Lake type, with a steaming radius of 3000 miles at a speed of 16 knots. February 7. Owing to an expected deficit and the reduction in revenue, it is understood that Mr Metcalf, tlie Secretary of ths Navy, must be content with £8,000,000, instead of £15,000,000, for his department, and with two new battle&hips instead of four. Two more submarines are being sent to Manila, making four in all.
