There is a gradu.il sinking of the slope whereon the Spoleto Cathedral is built, which threatens to ruin the structure. Spoleiio is a town and archiepisropal see of the pro\ inoe of Perugia, Umbria, Italy. 18 miles north-north-east of Terni, and 88 miles north-east of Rome by railway. Traces of the Roman theatre (375 ft in diameter) were unearthed in 1891. The citadel, which stonily resisted the Piedmoiiitest in 1860, is now a convict prison. In 1892 the city was adorned with a monument to King Victor Emmanuel.
