THE FRENCH VINTAGE.

A SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE. PARIS, February 2. It is officially announced that the French vintage will be 13,000,000 hectolitres above that of the previous year. The vine is cultivated to a very great extent in Francp. The quantity of wine produced in 1906 was 1.145.738,000 gallons. A hectolitre is equivalent to about 26i gallons, and therefore the increase this year will be - something like 344,500.000 gallons.
