ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. CHRISTCHURCH. January 8.

At the Addington live stock market "to-day there were fairly large entries of stock and a good attendance. Sheep were in good demand. Prime fat lambs sold at late rates. Beef was somewhat .easier, and pigs were rather dull of sale. There was a fairly large entry of- store sheep, the bulk being "lambs, and, as buyers from the south were operating-, there was a. good sale. The entry of fat lambs was a fairly laTge one, but the quality was uneven, the majority not being well finished. There was fair com- ' petition for export, and prims. lambs sold! up to kte rates, but other descriptions were easier. Teg? sold at 16s 6d to 18s; prime freezers, 14s 6d to 16s; lighter, 123 6d to 14s; and unfinished 11s to 12?. Tjhe entry of .fat sheep was an average one. ' The supply of beef totalled 283 head, of which j bullocks were only a small proportion, prime | quality cows forming the greater part of the entry. The sale was dragging, and prices showed further reduction. Steers brought £6 5s to £10; heifers. £5 10s to £7 15s; cows, £4 5s to £8 5s — equal to 22te 6d to 24s for prime, and 18s to 22s for cows and medium steers per 1001b. , - j A full yarding of veal calves sold at 3s 6d to 40s.
