IMPERIAL UNITY
, LONDON, January 10. The Austral Club banqueted Admiral Poore at th© Hotel. Ritz. Lord Jersey presided. Those , present included the Hon. W. P. Reeves and the Agents-general for the Australian States. Admiral Poore said that as a believer , in the Conservative ideal of Imperial unity | be was glad of an opportunity of studying on the spot the aspirations, work, and difficulties of Australia and New Zealand. In using the word " Conservative " he in- ' tended to convey the meaning of cooperative Imperial unity. Admiral Poore sails for Australia by the P. and O.s China on the 17th inst., to relieve Admiral Sir l Wilmot Fawkes (who was in Otago last week) of the command of the Australasian Squadron.
