THE OAMARU MARKETS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) OAMARU, January 11.

The only sale of wheat reported during , the past week affected a small parcel, foi „ whioh 6s (f.0.b.) was accepted. There hat been an absence of inquiries and offering! ■ for some weeks past. Oats have eased in sympathy with outsid* , markets, and for some 700 or 800 bags oi B grade- 2s 9d (f.0.b., sacks in) was taken a week ago. ; ;- Potatoes are worth up to 6s 6d per cwt foi > kidneys, but Derwents are easier. The past week has been a severe one for ' growing crops, and estimates, which a fortnight ago were fixed a-t 40 bushels per 'acre, will now have to come down at least two • or three bushels. Winter wheat and wheat' sown on heavy land have stood the adverse - conditions well, but other crops have suffered. 1 Oats have been hurried on, so that a certain number of fields have already cut. Potatoes continue to do well, but turnips have gorie back a good deal in many places. JTbe effect has been most noticeable on grass-, whioh has had a severe, check. Rain fell on the hills on Saturday, but a general down< . pour would do a world of good to grass, whil< preventing^wheat and oats from ripening to<, • last. ■—
