DR. BARNADO'S HOMES.

We have just received from the secretary of Dr. Barnardo's great child welfare institution a little booklet entitled "The Gateway to Sunshine," which, sets out one or two striking e?:of what is being done for the orphans or destitute children committed to their care.

95.775 children have been lifted out of the shadow into the sun; 7,305 are now being supported and trained; 5 are admitted daily. The charter of these National Homes is:—"No destitute child ever refused admis=ion, " there is eo red tape, so votes are required, there is no waiting list—the need of the child is ihj only consideration. Many of children come from tie gh>bm of the slums. They are given j a new environment. They grow up with healthy bodies and minds and are trained and' placed out in the mother-' land or overseas Dominions as healthy,! honest and God-fearing citizens.
