REMARKABLE AIRCRAFT.
"HUSH-HUSH" METAL PLANE. IMPRESSIVE EXHIBITION. The "liush-hush" service aircraft were among the 70 machines of latest types, varying in horse-power from 1000 to three, which "stunted" before the Dominion Prime Ministers at the Croydon air station. The- Australian Prime Minister, Mr Bruce, was deeply impressed by the development of British commercial aircraft, particularly by the methods devised for accurate dropping of Kiails and merchandise by parachutes, He was surprised at the perfection of tlit- wireless control of the secret all-metal single-seater fighting machine, of amazing speed, and of the new hornet-like Zeppelin destroyer. The first machine rose after dusk, its navigation lights forming a'fiery cross and tracing a glittering path through. the heavens, as the pilot wriggled, spun, and dived, iu efforts to avoid invisible pursuers, and spurted bullets from his machine* gun. :
The spectators were heriflsd wh-s'B the machine burst into flames and dived. Secretary for Air, Sir Samuel Hoare, was quick, however, to reassure them, and to explain that the flame-- were only a skilful arrangoment of fireworks.
