PARAPARAUMU SPORTS.
ParaparauDiu is generally the rendezvous of a big crowd on New Year'" Day and the committee of the Paraparaumu Athletic Club cater liberally for the public, who support them. Entries in all events are particularly heavy, no lens than (54 men and 23 women athletes taking part. The one mile flat race will see some 20 starters and with men like Bowler, Green and Weggery, the pace should be a good one. There will be three heats in the 120 yards ladies' race and with everything favourable the final should be interesting. ' There are some 20 entries for the 880 yards open and 23 for the 440 yards. In the field events Thompson, Walton and Bennett are not too heavily handicapped to show up to advantage. Befreshrneiits, confectionery and summer drinks will be obtainable on the ground.
