OTAKI SPORTS.
The Otaki Athletic Club was favoured with ideal weather conditions for their annual sports' meeting, which was held on the domain on Saturday afternoon. Owing to the close proximity of the holidays the committee was sadly depleted, but tkos.e. who were there worked witu a will and the meeting, as a whole, must be voted a decided success. The public attended in goodly numbers aim the ground was in fair- condition, but a cycle track is badly needed. On the "present track cycle-racing is well nigh impossible and the only bit of good work in this direction, the whole day, was the close finish in the three mile race between Da vies and Cooper, who raced together for the length of the straight, Davies crossing the line only a foot ahead of Cooper. The public, at times, somewhat hampered the work of the officials by invading the oval, but this will always be the case u:dii proper fencing is erected. The Otaki Brass Baud enlivened the proceedings with a line programme of music. Results of the Various events arc as follows: 120 yards maiden—.l. Houlihan 1, J. Gill 2.
