Mr. P. E. Debreceny to-day left for Wellington to enter the public hospital for radium treatment. We rtro pleased to report that Mr. 11. H. Yuan, a local plumber, lias ),,.,,, successful in passing his examination which took place in Palmerston North recently. Mr. K. C. Kirk, ten years Mayor of I'etone, and now solicitor to the Borough, is a descendent of some of fluvery earliest settlers to arrive in'tXcw Zealand. His parents landed at Wkangarei in 1523, just 100 years ago and a few weeks back Mr. Kirk gave a very interesting address at a meeting of early settlers on the subject.
