*l>toF.H SHIFTS EN*i'J|fe. SPEEDING UP THE WORK. Good headway is now being made with the work of forming the darn a' Mangahao. The men are working three shifts a day and so as no time will he lost during the summer month; work will be carried on over eact week end. The work of concreting the portion of the dam on the opposite side of the river is proceeding rapidly On Tuesday a start was made to pumj out the river channel, the water frorr which is diverted through the by-pass When the water has been pumped ou an immediate start will be made witt the work of excavating the bed. im is the most critical part of the entei prise as everything depends on wea ther conditions, and to enable tin work to be completed to time it i most essential no time should be lojjuring the fine weather.
