OTAKI DRAINAGE WORKS
On the motion of His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. P. Brandon) it was yesterday decided to hold a special meeting of the Council next Tuesday to deal with the plans in connection with the above. Mr Brandon pointed out that the Works' Committee had been instructed to deal with the plans and report to the Council, but had failed to do so. He stressed the obligation on the part of the Council to look after the interests of the ratepayers who had sanctioned the scheme, and further that they proceed with the work at once, so employment would be found for a number of men during the wintel months. The money for the work had been obtained, also, a large quantity oi material was on hand, and he. for one, would not be a party to any shilly shallying in connection with works sanctioned by the ratepayers,
