At tiie last meeting of Ihe Palmerston Be rough Council, a letter was r'eeived from the State Advances Office, intimating that the Advance-- Board had resolved to entertain the Council's application for a further loan of £oU(><) for the purpose of laying down roads in tarred macadam. —.it was divided to attend to the necessary requisition. SPECIAL JUMPS TO Md. POWER PLANT RESPONSIBLE. in di.-i usaiiig the Estimates, the Mayor {Mr. T. J. Nathan) announced that the special rate would be £ 1-Sd. against Igcl. for the previous year. He pointed out, however, that this increase was not due in any way to the present council, but was a legacy from the old council. It was for the purpose of providing interest and sinking fund in re*pect of the Electric Lighting loan, which would be refunded from the revenue account when the electrical undertaking was in full swing.
