TAKEN TO TASK.
FOREMAN CONSIDERED TOO SEVERE. A WISE PRECAUTION. A t yesterday 's meeting of the Otaki Bo rough Council the Mayor said the foreman of the water works (Mr Webby) had been accused of being too severe. He considered the fault a good one, and maintained that a man could not exceed id* carefulness. Cr. Kilmister said that this matter bad already been discussed and that tie Engineer himself agreed with re>; marks made. Mr Davies said he considered the duties of foreman were being carried out satisfactorily, and credit was due to Mr Webby. The contractor know that he had a good man to inspect everything. Webbv, he maintained, had proved most capable.
Cr. O’Oourke asked who had complained of Webby being too severe, and
was assured by the Mayor that one of the Councillors had made the remark. He considered it out of order to make such a remark.
