Mrs SeholfieUl, of Masterton, is at present among the visitors to Otaki.
Mr and Mrs P. K. Debreeenv gave :m enjoyable party on Friday evening last to celebrate the coining of age of two of Jlrs Debreeenv’s nieces, Miss Olivo Ham. of Napier, and Lilliam May Hook, of Levin, who were two of her bridesmaids at their wedding in Otaki in lfio.r.
! The late Mr Samuel Dyer, who died I at .Tollnsonville on tlte 17th inst., was very well known in this district, having ■ resided at To Horo for a number of | years. He was born in Cornwall SO , years ago. He started life as a tin minor, but left England "ii the emigrant ship, Hydesperous in Is< 0 (the I next trip she was wrecked). He lamlled in Christchurch, leaving there in ! 1890 to work on the tunnels for the 1 Manawatu Railway Company, stopping !in their employ for 15 years. He met i with an accident in the Wellington * vards after he retired to Johnsonville. I where lie resided until his death. Those left to mourn their loss are his wife, at * Johnsonville, two daughters (Miss W. i Dyer, Johnsonville, Mrs A. Thomson, To Horo). and Mr AV. Dyer (CliristI church).
