TO-NIGHT'S ENTERTAINMENT.
AN EXCELLENT SHOW. Thus an exchange:—-There was a good attendance at the Opera House last night, when Alfred Laurie’s company of arti.-ts presented an excellent programme of vaudeville and comedy items. The eompanv is one of the best of its kind seen in Ma-tenon for .-ome
rears. There is a brightness about the whole show which is mcc refreshing. The singing is go.fd. the btulers tasteful and pretty, end the dancing e:-:cop-tionally clever. The programme- is freefrom what i - eolloquilly called ‘‘rough stuff,” and provides a feast of fun and enjoyment for patrons. It is r. show which keeps one deeply interested all >he tfrr.e, as something fresh i- contisuoUs 1 v placed before the audience. The stage setting* made a nice background for the performances of the clever artists. The life that is put into their efforts by the members of the companr is catching, and many, of the tuneful numbers last night set the -swaying to the music or possessed them with a desire to get up and join in the jazz and fun on the stage.- it is a com- j patty that can be guaranteed to drive t away all gloom and provide a strong* ray of sunshine for some 2*; hours.
