QUEEN CARNIVAL.
MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the Executive Commit tee was held at the Council Chamber; on Fridav night, His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. F. Brandon) presiding. All queens were fully represented. Mr Taylor (secretary) read a letter from M r Cyril Day. who made valuable suggestions, many of which were adopted. it was decided that the name of the carnival be ‘‘Otaki Queen < ’tirtitvnl, ’ and that the objects be to raise funds for improving and beautifying the domain. and that: the Borough Council be entrusted with the spending of the money raised, after recommendations had been received from the Executive Committee. It was decided that the Carnival open at 9 a.in. on May F>th and close at midnight op -June loth, and that the Chairman, Secretary. Trea-urer. and two representatives of each queen watch the general ciodtn-t n! the carnival. It was agreed to have four ,'ueei,;Bet:,A. Up i iv-ay. T a. and Naive, supporter.- of each queen to manage their own affairs.
It was agreed that the complete pro j gramme be submitted by each queen j committee to the executive tor approval; that each committee open a bank- , ing account, ami finally hand over the j proceeds to the Executive Committee, j It was resolved to announce result? it: the -‘Mail’’ on Friday of each week, i it was decided that any money raised j te- anr queen prior t" the Fith May he j paid into tire general fund. The following colours were approved j of: Railway queen, black and gold: j town, sapphire blue and pink; Beach, emerald green and black: Maori, red and khaki. ‘l'he Executive will meet again next | Wednesday at 7.mi p.m. j Considerable interest I.; already be- i ing takc-n in the Carnival, and from the j Fith May the public may look forward J to lively times.
