* rTho friends of Capt. Bax will regret to learn that ho had to undergo an operation for appendicitis. He is, however. making good progress. Mr Yal Atkinson, the well-known advance representative, is staying at the Family Hotel, making arrangements for the forthcoming production of Laurie’s pantomime on Monday ]4th. Miss Millie Baker, Into of Otaki. was among the successful exhibitors at St. Thomas horticultural show (Wellington) on Thursday, scouring second prize out of six entries for Iter decoraated mantel-piece, which was very highly commented upon.
