OUR ELECTION.
To the Editor. Sir, —First of all congratulations to the successful candidates, and 1o those who did not win I say try again, it may be a summer day on the next occasion. Now a few lines to "Big Ben "—afraid to sign his name as usual —prefers to attack the Returning Officer and staff in the dark: added to this his ignorance of election work at any rate, which is more complicated than he imagines. It must be his imagination, otherwise he would not ask such ridiculous questions. The staff, whom I think were entitled to the position, consisted of elderly men who are worthy of consideration and some allowance must also be made on account of the unusual class of work they were engaged to do. It was untlie "Toy-Cannon Man" a rally—all that was required was reasonable consideration and a little patience. Apparently "Big Ben" is not blessed with these virtues. He also lacks gameness —hits below the belt and tries to win on a foul, therefore the only smother he could find was to hide behind "Big Ben." With all due respect to the maker I prefer Ansonia. In conclusion if "Big Ben" is not one of the secret workers who delight in interfering with other peoples occupation or mean; of livelihood why was he ashamed to sign his name. —I am, etc., W. IT. BOWDEX. Otaki, 1/5/23.
