Owing to Wednesday being Anzac Day the "Otaki Mail" will be publish' ed to-morrow.
A meeting of Natives will be held this evening in connection with the Borough election. The Otaki Fire Brigade has added to their equipment a reel and two ladder-, purchased from Dargaville.
A local market-gardener recently sent a large case of celery to the Wellington market and received the large (!) sum of seven-pence! It is stated that Wellington auctioneers have declined to accept produce from the Chinese market-gardeners of Otaki unless sacks and cases are given in. As this means a loss of £2."m"i a year to the Chinese a movement i- on foot to place things on a more satisfactorv basis.
There will be a meeting of Natives at six o'clock this evening in connection with election matters, a library meeting will be held at 7 p.m.. a meeting for considering improvement to the domain will be held at 7.30, Mr Byron Brown will address the electors at S p.m., while a returned soldiers' meeting will be held at the same hour.

Electors, be ware, especially of swapping for one who has little to show for a term ot office and for one who has consistently opposed progress for the last 20 years. An auction sale of freehold section: will be held at Otaki on Saturday next
A meeting of the Acclimatisation Society will be held at Levin to-morrow. A dance in aid of The Rose Queen will be held at Te Horo to-night. Particulars relative to the Kodak £IOOO competition may be secured from Mr L. .St. George.
A meeting of returned soldiers will beheld to-night for the purpose of winding up the Association.
On Saturday next Messrs Maclean of Paraparaumu, will offer 100 splendid sections for sale —an opportunity that should not be missed.
On Friday r.ext a Foresters' ball will be held at the meeting-house, Waikanae, and a large gathering is expected .Visitors are expected from Ctald. Le-. vin, and eLewfcere,
Mr W. H. Field, M.P., has subdivided a township on the Waikanae beaeh, and roads are now being constructed. A sale of sections will be held at an early date.
A "hard-up" dance will be held in the Te Horo public hall on Friday night in aid of the violet queen. Plenty of amusement is promised all who attend. See advertisement.
Mr A. M. Dunklcy elsewhere returns thanks to those ratepayers who signed a requisition asking him to stand as a candidate for the position of Councillor on the Borough Council. Mr Dunkley hopes on some future occasion to be a candidate.
The present Borough Council are responsible for tarred footpaths to both schools, in fact several miles of tarred sidewalks and tarred approaches to dwellings have been put down in the last two years. Vote for the present Mayor and the loyal members of the Old Brigade, and make sure the good work continues. —Advt.

"Buy a poppy on Anzuc Day and help get work for IOOU ex-soldiers unemployed" is the heading of an advertisement appearing elsewhere. A dance in aid of the Primrose queen will be held at Te Horo on Wednesday, May 2nd. All pleasure-seekers should attend. At a meeting of the shopkeepers held recently it was unanimously decided to Jijjht for the return to Wednesday halfholiday, and I beg to ask my customers to support it on polling day.—E.
