WATER FOR OTAKI.
To Tlia Editor. ; Sir, —I was extremely pleased to see such a representative meeting of ratepayers last evening. The matter under consideration wus very important indeed and worthy of every attention. Ivow is the time ere it be too late to consider the water-schome versus domestic use only, or both domestic and power combined. I am pleased at the decision as to the resolution, and I think if all in the meeting had voted the majority would have been overwhelming, judging by the opinions expressed by many before and after the meeting. It remains to be seen what the Council will do. I sincerely hope the matter will be held over for the new Council, not pushed through in the dying hours of the present body. -Some members, I feel sure, will, and rightly so, be left out when the numbers go up. X was astonished beyand measure at the Mayor’s action. .Never before have I heard and seen such a display of side-stepping (he is a champion). I think his attitude was uncalled for and quite away from the point of discussion. If all important matters such as this one are treated in a like manner then the sooner we change our representative the better. Personally I as a ratepayer, along with many more, desire a change in the interests of Otaki and its future prosperity.—l am, etc.. PELORUS JACK.
