( Sir,—Seeing we are to have Municipal croquet greens perhaps the following, referring to a Municipal ‘pub,’ . will be of interest:— ■ Oh! boys a good day’s dawning This will be the country’s hub Eor waking up one morning IVe ’ll see a Municipal Pub. Councillors and Ilis Worship Who work now without pay t '/ill get a nip and yet a nip I ••‘id free beer every day. nan what a rush for oJKcc Will star! from near and far What a struggle for the nice Soft job behind the bar. All towmiiteu will keep order Each »ne will live in fear That should he cross the border The Mayor will dock his beer. Business will be booming Cheques in O.taki will stay ' And no one will be roaming Up the line Levin way. The carter, the surfaceman, The clerk, the engineer Will work that day for half their pay As they also get. free beer. The water of Otaki Flowing so bright and clear Will bo a stream of lucre As we brew it into beer. Hurray! Hurray! Xo rates to pay And at each year’s end “Just come this wav,’’ the cloak will say, “And get your dividend.”
