MEETING AT OTAKI. At a meeting- of the executive of the Chamber of Commerce, held on .Friday evening, a letter was received from Mr Byron Brown accepting the office of patron, and enclosing a cheque lor a substantial amount. He also ex-
pressed liis good wishes for success in the new enterprise to forward Otaki. Many important matters were bought forward, to be discussed at the general meeting to bo held on 3rd May. Members and intending members ..will ■ id interest in the following extract om our worthy patron’s letter:— Nature has given us many gifts in f'.aki that we do not fully appreciate, and it is by boosting these natural advantages that Otaki will advance. Progress or stagnation is just the difference between faith and unbelief. To believe a thing can be accomplished is to make it half done; the rest is easy. No enterprise or citizen can progress without the whole town being the better for it, and every citizen likewise. Every forward move is 'pro bono publico.’ and, in the large sense, ‘pro patria. ’ Otaki has possibilities of a great future, and that future is in the llmiffs irb' flm roti’/nru; **
