The Otaki Club's' representatives at ilio Canterbury championship meeting, Or. Atmore and C. JL'\ Atmore, did exceedingly well. Atmore won the handicap singles from scratch, and togethey went to the third round of the combined handicap doubles, and the semi-linals of the championship, in which they were defeated by Greenwood and Mrs Hickman, <> —4, o—o,0 —o, after an exciting and very keenly contested match. In the Indies’ singles, Dr. Atmore. playing solidly, reached the semi-linals of the singles, where she was only just defeated by Miss Saunders, !> —7. She also reached the semilinals of the ladies’ doubles. The Christchurch - ‘Sun” in reviewing the men’s singles says:-—“ Atmore had this match all his own way. He dominated the situation all through, and could have won the match to love if he had wished. Goddard scored a point only here and there. Atmore was one of the “dark horses” of the tournament, lie belongs to Otaki. Ilis tennis is iinished and clean, and he knows how to utilise the whole court. lie deserved liis win, for he has been playing consistently well throughout the tournament and put up a good tight against Glnuvillc in the championship singles. Goddard is a young player lacking match experience. ’ ’
