OTAKI POLICE COURT.
I CHARGE OF ASSAULT. A young Native, Meta Hori, was charged at the Police Court this morn- , ing with assaulting his wife, a EuroI pean. Constable Satherley stated the | ease was one of the worst of its kind, ■ and in support presented Mrs Hori, who ! appeared with a badly damaged eye. and minus a big handful of hair, while ! it was stated her body was well cover- ! cd in bruises. Accused pleaded guilty and was fined ; £lO, and a warning issued that should j the offence be repeated he would be I sent to gaol. Default was fixed at two j mouths' imprisonment.
