SPORTING.

A splendid photograph of Mr W. if. Edwards' well-known raee-hsrse, Probate, appears in the last •number of the Sporting and Dramatic Review. H. E. Ryder is seen in the saddle. .

Messrs Edward.-, Websler, and Higgott returned from the-South yesterday, bringing with them Probate. Matarika, Bestir, and Pillage. The Bolter and Martial Dawn were left with Mr J. Prosser. Mr Edwards will leave in tho course of a few days for the West Coast meetings, Mr Websler will gut to Rangitikei with Bonecto, while Mr liiggott will probably take Redlogue to Palmerston North.

Out of Jl' applicants, Mr I>. H. Ogilvy, of Foxton, has been appointed s«cretary of the Foxton Racing Club, vice Mr L. R. Freeman, who is leasing for Auckland to enter into business on his own account.
