THE RANGER.

At last night’s meeting of the Otaki Borough Council Cr. Cockrell considered the present system of ranging unsatisfactory, and mentioned that one cow in his vicinity was continually on the road, while he had been told that slock had taken possession of another road. Cr. Bills said it -was not fair to ratepayers to pay the ranger as he worked on a farm from morning till night. There was always stock or. the road. It was decided to call for fresh applications for the position of ranger and sexton.
