ASSISTING THE BLIND.
MOVEMENT IN OTARI. A meeting of those interested in Mr Clutha Mackenzie's scheme for assisting the blind was held at the Council Chambers on Wednesday afternoon, His Worship the Mayor (Mr Brandon) presiding. All present were formed into a committee with Mr F. G. Davies as secretary-, while the following were appointed canvassers:—Kirk and Bell Streets, Mrs Bree; Mill Bond, Miss Lee; Waorenga Road, Mrs Davies; Hangiuru from Post Office, Mrs Bran- , don; Tasman Road, Misses Cotterell; Te Manuao, Mrs Stable; Railway end, Mrs Leu Kilmister; Main and Aotaki Streets, Misses Whiteman and Baker; Convent Road, Mrs Eddy; Rahui Road, Miss Booth; Main road to Manakau, Miss Simcox; Waihoanga, Mrs Lethbridge; Manakau, Mr L. H. Atkins; Paraparaumu and district, Mr J. D. Howell.
llic offer of Mr Morse to give a picture entertainment in aid of the funds was accepted with thanks, while Mill. Cockrell offered 5s to the child selling the greatest number of tickets. - It was also agreed to hold a social and dauee at an early date. The question of inviting the Natives to help was left to Mr Brandon;
