OTAKI BOROUGH COUNCIL
SPECIAL MEETING. , - A special meeting of the Otaki Borugh Council was held last night. Present: His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. P. Brandon), Crs. Cockrell, Taylor, Kilsby,-Broadway, Bills and Carkeek. -Tenders in connection with sewerage wbrbs and water-works fittings wore considered, that of the Wellington ’ Drain Co. at £2641 13s- 4d for sewerage works being accepted. The Cement Pipe Co. tendered at £2686 11s 3d. For pipe fittings the tender of John Duthie a: .1 Co. at £347 7s Sd was accepted. I Or. Kilsby said it had been deemed advisable by the Works’ Committee- to have glazed pipes, and was supported by the Clerk. The earthenware pipes, ; the Clerk said, proved reliable except at a great depth. Concrete pipes until aged and set were liable to chip, and if chip- | ped liable to break up. The maximum I depth the pipes would bo down would be 10ft.
