? —■ For the illustrated booklet on "Marvellous Macawatu," to be published shortly, interesting photographs are" wanted by the Chamber of Commerce, Box 186, Palmerston North, Theso should be on P.O.P. or glossy bromide paper, finished as near black and white as possible. Scenes of interest in tho Manawatu should comprise naxmiiling, farm work, purebred stock, agricultural scenes, pastoral pictures, growing crops, harvesting, home life, street scenes, public buildings, educational institutions, school life, and demonstrations, scenic and pleasure resorts, trophies of the chase such as stags' heads, trout, ducks, etc., motoring, sports and pastimes, surfing, baths, fishing, bush, scenes, flower and vegetable gaxd.typical homes, sports grounds, at replane views of districts, shipping, etc. All pictures used will be paid for at from Is to 10s each, according to merit and interest. Those not used will be returned to sender if name and address is rfc-zily marked on back of eacm-
Send as many as you like because a hundred can probably be used. Entries arc- also inwited for a suitable slogan, the shorter and more descriptive the better. For instance, Nelson uses the slogan "Sunny Nelson, the Garden of New Zealand," while- Hamilton says "Hamilton, The Hub of the Waikato." Some happy, descriptive slogan, rhyming or alliterative, is going to win three, guineas. It is not neeefsary to use the* pnrase "Mart-ellc-sl-Manawatu" if yon can coin a better 0.-. e. Entries are free and should fae addressed as above. Competitors are asked to remember that the "Marvellous Mana-.vatu" comprises five counties, Horowtenna, Kairanga, Manawata, Ozona, and Pocacgina.
