Among recent Otaki visitors to Sydney were Messrs Les. List, M. Murray, A. Nicol, and H. Knox. Mr M. Bassin, of the well-known firm I of Ba=?in Bros., tailor- and furriers, of I Wellington, will pay a business visit to i Sydney shortly. The funeral of the late Mrs Baker 'OOk place yesterday, when there v.us a representative following, which included His Worship the Mayor, Town Clerk, I and Councillors. An impressive ceremony was conducted by the Rev. Temuera Tokoaitua. The late Mrs Baker, who was born in Taranaki 41 years ago. I lived for many years in Otaki, where her ■ husband, Mr Martin Baker, died about j twelve year.-, ago. Recently the deceased, who was much esteemed, suffered a! sad bereavement when two sons—Skip and Peter —were drowned t-t Foxton. j Seven members of the family are still

living. Mr Les. List, who journeyed to Sydney by the Maunganui, arrived at the j City at carnival time, the French warships being anchored there.
