MOTOR HOGS.
In an article last Saturday we urged the need for controlling the men who took the wrong side of the road, and in other comments wo have"sought to impress upon motorists tho need for less speed along our thoroughfare. If this was not done, we urged, then the alternative would be under the control of j local bodies. That others who consider , the welfare of the general community j have been thinking along similar lines j is shown by the report of the latest i meeting of the Otaki Borough Council j at which the question of cycling on footpaths and excessive driving of mo-tor-cars was discussed. It was agreed that there was only one way of dealing with the matter, namely that of appointing special constables. It was thought by the speakers that the expense incurred would soon be made up by lines. It was resolved that the matter be left to the Works Committee, with a recommendation that special constables be appointed. All drivers of motor vehicles, especially the road j and those who insist upon keep- I iug in the fairway and those who ivill j no!: observe the right side of the road, | should sec this writing on the wall. — , Feilding Star.
