TRAIN SERVICE.

IMPROVEMENTS SUGGESTED. An improvement in the train service was suggested at last night’s Borough Council meeting by Cr. Kilsby. lie pointed out that passengers wishing to go to Pahiatua and adjacent townships i had to travel by the 7.50 a.m. train from Otaki, whereas if the New Plymouth mail from Wellington was speeded up by a few minutes only a connection with the Wairarapa train could easily be made. Ou the return journey passengers were often delayed long enough at Woodville to miss the New Plymouth train at Palmerston, whereas if it was speeded up by five minutes only an easy connection could be made. The New Plymouth train, lie pointed out, generally moved out from Palmerston as the Wairarapa train arrived. This caused passengers to travel by the goods train reaching Wellington about midnight or stay the night in Palmerston, which caused both inconvenience and expense. It was decided to write to the Woodville. Paliintua, Eketahuna, and Palmerston N. Councils on the matter and ask that some action be taken to secure an improved service.
