THE OTAKI SEAT.
MR FIELD RETURNED BY 58 VOTES. A scrutiny of the rolls in connection with the above scat took place yesterday, a staff under Mr S. P.' Eddy's guidance, working energetically most of the day. Later in the afternoon a count of the absent voters' permits was made, while yesterday the whole of the voting paper.-- were gone through, Messrs Palmer and Carkeek acting as scrutineers for Messrs Field and McClure ranjectively.
