Mrs R. Oann, of the Jubilee Hotel, is at present seriously ill, and lias been token to "Wellington hospital. Another motor-car, this time laden with benzine, got stuck in the Waitohu ford on Wednesday. It was only with difficulty that it was got to terra firma. The grass on Waerenga road has been cut, and residents will now be able to make hay for the winter months, the Council having given permission for anyone to take it.
The Railway Department draw attention in this issue to the additional express trains between "Wellington and Auckland, and between Palnierston North and Auckland for the Christmas and New Year holidays.
On Saturday afternoon Miss Baker, who is leaving Otaki, will be the guest of the Croquet Club at afternoon tea on the green, when the members inteßd giving her a small token of their good wishes. At the same time by courtesy of the Bowling Club, the Horticultural and Daffodil Society, of which she has been an active member, will bid her farewell,. accompanied by a mark of their esteem. The Otaki Borough Council office will be closed for the Christmas holidays from December 28 to January C. Ah advertisement from the Returning Officer (Mr Eddy) announces the final result of the election for the Otaki seat. The prize distribution of the To Horo School will take place at a concert and dance in the Te Horo Public Hall tonight. The annual meeting of the Te Horo Sports Club will be held in the Te Horo Public Hall on Wednesday evening next.
