The death took place at Auckland yesterday of Mr Clement L. Wrasse. 70 years of age, who had a paralytic seizure at Sanson about a fortnight ago while on a lecturing tour.

The Chairman said the matter was left in the hands of a committee, and the Committee had accepted the offer. He asked that the action of the Committee be approved. This was done. The Palmerstoii North Hospital Board stated that the second instalment of the maintenance levy of £l4-11 7s was due. —Instalment passed for payment.
Messrs Sladder, Pevitl and Dyett, Wellington, asked for approval of plan of proposed town at Waikanae beach, also legalising of road in beach toirnship. The firm was authorised to have plans prepared so that the legalising of the road could bo proceeded with. Messrs Park and Adams applied for transfer of sections 456 and 488, Shannon, and section (533. Shannon, and asked that transfers-be executed. —Granted. Mr D. A. Hotchens, Levin, informed the Council that having secured a property at Hokio for tearooms, he did not now require the space granted him for the purpose of milking, but thanked the Council for having done so, and would pay any expenses incurred. The letter was received, the Chairman remarking that it war: a very nice letter. Messrs Thompson and Vincent applied to the Council to form and metal about four chains at the end of Kawiu Road, which gave access to their x )ro ' perty. At the present time it was impossible to take a loaded vehicle over the road. Mr L. Hogg, Kuku. applied for the right to take water from the waterrace which runs through his property. He proposed to take the water through a one-inch pipe.—fieferred to Cr. Harkness and engineer with power to set. Messrs Hankins, Fitzherbert and Abraham, Palmerston Xorth, enquired if there was anything to report re the Kangitane-Tokomaru Koad, and asked that everything be got in readiness-for completion of the deed in connection with the matter. The Chairman stated that the Committee appointed by the Council had visited Tokomaru, and after going into the matter an agreement was made witfc the owners with these reservation*: Road to be constructed within fiv,.< year.-. The Councii to take no future responsibility of drains on the road, these to be taken over by the existing drainage board or to be maintained by adjoining owners. Beplying to Cr. Harkness the Chairman stated that in event of any of the property changing hands-, the Council was protected from any future liability.
The action of the Council's Committee in drawing up the agreement was approved. An Otaki Matter. The Chairman reported that with the engineer he had inspected the complaint made by Mrs Power, at Otaki, that water was being ran on to her property. Mrs Power said sbe'had advice that the Council wae responsible for any damage done. The question, the Chairman said, was which way the fall of the country lay. He had instructed the engineer to take levels to find that out, for where the greatest amount of fall could be obtained was the correct fall of the country. That was the position and they could not do anything until the levels were obtained. 'The Council did not want to do any injustice to Mrs Power, and he had a?ked her to wait the taking of the levels. Cr. Bydc-r said the water table on the left side of the road r<«quir»d cleaning regularly, and culverts skoald be put across the road to let the water away. raking in. The Engineer s«id the wet weather had prevented the tarring work being started. They must have dry weather for this work. Cr. Broadbelt ' (Wirokino) stated Tavistock Road was badly potholed, probably by the heavy traffic in carting out the electric polos. A bridge in Pott's Road wanted attending to.
Cr. Ryder (Otaki) complained of the pot holes in the road below the Otaki bridge although he had mentioned the matter at the last two or three meetings. He had asked for the cost of reforming the road through Weraroa settlement-, and wanted to know if the information was available.
The Engineer said the master vras unfortunafely overlooked.
Cr. Ryder also complained of the delay in doing the asphalting at To Horo. The Chairman said he had seen some men nt work there.
Cr. Bryant (Otaki) stated that there was nothing to report at his end of the riding, but if there were any old planks available they would be useful
for repairing work. Thn Engineer said there were no planks available just now. Replying to Cr. Broadbelt, the chairman said he had not an opportunity yet of visiting the Taungata drain, but would do hit best to go out before Christmas.
