BOWLING.

Although Saturday was an ideal bowlers' day and the green in perfect order there was not a large muster of players. Only one match for the Pcar-

ctfy Cuvj was played while one was played for the Kinniburgh Feathers. for the Cup Freeman, Moore, Whitomaii and Safiierley (s) won by the narrow margin of one point from Bax, Bramley, Petrie, and Eddy (s). The latter rink started well, and on the fifth head lay five, which made the 'game in their favour, t)-2. Satherley J secured four on the sixth head, and 'made the game !)-S. On the twelfth head the scores were even, then Eddy ! led, only to be beaten on the next head, l Scores- were again even on the sixteenth head, but on the seventeenth Satherley lay three. Of the last four heads Eddy scored on three—all singles—and Satherley on one, and thus the game ended, IVIS.

Webster, Irving, Williams, and 01livor (s) challenged for the Feathers, their opponents being Nicolson (substitute), A. Smith, Noble, and Bills (s). The latter quartette started well and on the sixth head led 8-1, then 11-4, 14-7, 15-9. On the fourteenth head, however, tho tables were suddenly turned by a remarkable piece of play. Bills, playing his last bowl, cut out, two of his own, and left his opponents with eight—probably a record for the green. From this the challengers went ahead, and scored frequently, eventually winning, after playing some fine shots, by 3(3-17. There was a deal of discussion on thc green on Saturday as to whether the Challenge Feathers should be played for, and an informal meeting was held when the President declared a motion carried that they be not played for, and that the Fearccy cup be proceeded with. In spite of this a match for the Feathers was played, and it uow behoves the Committee to make a hard and fast rule governing the matter. The following have challenged for the Feathers.—Satherley, Heald, Petrie, Eddy (s).
