HAUTERE DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB. On Saturday the. above Club completed the first round of the Belt and Cup ■cries, which carries with it a trophy presented by Mr W. H. Field, M.P. This was won from scratch by Rflrn. 1). B. Mackersey. A tricky wind played havoc with the day's scores at GOO yds. Results:

NGATIAWA CLUB. The Ngatiawa Rifle Club commenced their club competitions with a shoot of seven shots at 300 and 500 yards for Mi Odlin's trophy, and also a bolt optional. The winner proved to be Kflm. L. Palmer. The day was beautifully ine, but the rapidly changing light made it difficult to keep elevation, The following are the scores: — 300 500
