To the Editor. Sir. —frurclv our high rates entitle us to expect just a little, courtesy from our Borough officials! The last circular issued to those unfortunate wretches whose property bounds a creek, is nothing short of an insult, it savors more of an ultimatum from a war-lord; one can see the language becoming stronger and stronger with each commanding sentence until the grand finale is reached and magistrates’ court proceedings are threatened. These swashbucklers in official position should bear in mind that they are merely servants of the public, supported by their money and tolerated by their goodwill alone. I should like to quote one sentence from this circular and ask its meaning:* “As a result of the impedence to tha normal flow of water." What j« this word “impedence”? Is it a Native word or a Borough term? It certainly is not an English word. —I ara, etc., RATEPAYER.
